Job Description
Healthcare Risk Advisors has an opportunity for a Director of Informatics to join our Data Analytics team. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our offices in New York, NY two days a week.
The Director of Informatics will report to the VP of Data Strategy and be responsible for overseeing informatics strategies to reduce professional liability risk, and improve operational efficiency within Healthcare Risk Advisors. This role will collaborate with claims, risk management, IT, and underwriting, as well as clinical teams in hospitals to identify opportunities for improvement and lead projects that advance the organization's objectives in claims and risk management.
Responsibilities: - Develop and implement strategies for the integration of informatics and data analytics into claims and risk management processes.
- Utilize data analytics tools to monitor trends and outcomes related to claims and risk management, and patient safety metrics.
- Prepare and present reports on operational efficiency, risk management activities and outcomes to clients, relevant committees, and HRA senior leadership.
- Collaborate with IT, claims, underwriting, physician services, business development, clinical departments, and administrative teams to ensure that informatics tools support business objectives.
- Evaluate new third party data sources for potential adoption to enhance risk management strategies.
- Design visualizations and reports for assessment of alerts and potentially compensable events
- Work with the data science team to conduct analysis of administrative and clinical data to derive metrics associated with medical malpractice
- Analyze, mine, map, transform, and transfer large volumes of data across data sources
- Conceptualize, design and conduct new processes for internal and customer data visualization and reporting and ad-hoc analytics
- Work with IT resources to implement data storage, retrieval and metric implementation in the data warehouse and data lake
- Support and participate in business development activities, as needed
- Continually enhance knowledge of health care industry data manipulation, technologies and approaches for data storage, retrieval and reporting
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant area such as information technology, public health, healthcare administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in clinical informatics, data analytics, Electronic Health Records, clinical workflow analysis, and project management required.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional projects required.
- 5+ years of experience in health care data use and reporting
- 5+ years of experience in use of hospital administrative and electronic health record data
- Demonstrated advanced quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to validate own work
- Ability to synthesize data into effective reporting formats
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of health care delivery systems, claims data and medical terminology
- Extensive experience with various database models and storage approaches
- Demonstrated proficiency with SQL
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, Microsoft Access and other data reporting and reporting tools
- Experience with a variety of data visualization and self-service reporting tools
Salary Range: $120,000 - $200,000
Compensation varies based on skills, knowledge, and education. We consider factors such as specialized skills, depth of knowledge in the field, and educational background to ensure fair and competitive pay.
