Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join our IT security team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, with experience in designing, implementing, and managing security solutions to protect our network infrastructure. As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for safeguarding our systems against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the security and integrity of our network environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Security Design & Implementation:

    • Design, implement, and maintain network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security devices.
    • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to protect network infrastructure and data.
    • Implement security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats.
  • Security Monitoring & Incident Response:

    • Monitor network traffic and security events using security information and event management (SIEM) tools to detect and respond to potential threats.
    • Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Network Infrastructure Management:

    • Manage and maintain network security devices and systems, ensuring they are properly configured and up to date with the latest patches and firmware.
    • Collaborate with the network engineering team to ensure secure network architecture and design.
    • Review and assess network configurations and changes to ensure they meet security requirements.
  • Security Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, NIST).
    • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
  • Collaboration & Training:

    • Work closely with IT, development, and operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the network and system design.
    • Provide training and support to employees on security best practices and awareness.
    • Stay informed of the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and share knowledge with the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
    • Proficiency with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, VPNs, and anti-malware solutions.
    • Experience with network protocols, routing, and switching, as well as network security monitoring tools.
    • Familiarity with cloud security, especially in environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, is a plus.
    • Understanding of encryption technologies, secure access controls, and identity management.
  • Certifications:

    • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security), or similar are preferred.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
